Travel on a non-commercial chartered or private aircraft
Flight from Inuvik, Northwest Territories to Whitehorse, Yukon.
Date: August 10, 2023
Source: Yukon Government.
Circumstances: I traveled to Inuvik, Northwest Territories on August 10, 2023 for the signing of the Accord between the Government of Canada, the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, the Government of the Northwest Territories, and the Government of Yukon for the shared management and regulation of petroleum resources in the Western Arctic - Tariuq (offshore). While in Inuvik, a nearby wildfire caused a deterioration in air quality and the possibility that an evacuation alert would soon be issued. The Premier of Yukon offered for me to accompany him on a chartered flight to Whitehorse and I accepted.
I was accompanied by Ryan Cotter, Director of Communications in my office.
This travel was accepted in exceptional circumstances.
