The Commissioner’s Office helps elected and appointed federal officials avoid conflicts of interest. It does that by:
- Helping them understand and follow the rules that apply to them
- Educating and informing them on what they must—and must not—do
- Supporting transparency by maintaining a public registry that contains their public declarations, and publishing investigation and operational reports
- Addressing situations where someone has failed to follow the rules
- Reporting to Parliament
- Sharing information, expertise, and best practices with organizations in Canada and abroad
These activities align with its mandate to administer the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons, and the Conflict of Interest Act.
