I’m a minister or parliamentary secretary
You are subject to the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons, and to the Conflict of Interest Act as a reporting public office holder.

I hold one of these mostly full-time positions
- Ministerial staff (15+ hours/week)
- Ministerial adviser
- Head of a federal department, agency, Crown corporation or other organization
- Embassy/consulate staff
- Member of a federal tribunal, board or commission (full-time)
- Someone designated as a reporting public office holder by the Governor in Council or a minister
You are subject to the Conflict of Interest Act as a reporting public office holder.
You should participate in educational sessions for reporting public office holders. The Commissioner’s Office is developing online training on the Act that you can take as well.
I hold one of these mostly part-time positions

- Member of a federal tribunal, board or commission (part-time)
- Someone designated as a public office holder by the Governor in Council or by a minister

You should participate in educational sessions for public office holders without reporting obligations. The Commissioner’s Office is developing online training on the Act that you can take as well.
I am a Member of Parliament’s employee
You are not subject to either the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons, or the Conflict of Interest Act.
You do not need any training for yourself.
However, you should take training on the Code if you want to help your Member comply with it. The Commissioner’s Office is developing online training on the Act that you can take as well.
None of the above
You are not subject to either the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons, or the Conflict of Interest Act.
You do not need any training for yourself.
However, if your job is to support someone who is subject to the Act and you want to help them comply with it, you may participate in educational sessions for reporting public office holders and/or educational sessions for public office holders without reporting obligations. The Commissioner’s Office is developing online training on the Act that you can take as well.
