- In the exercise of my official duties as Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, I recused myself on October 3, 2023 from participating in any discussion or decision regarding the nomination process of David Conway to be a Judge of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, General Division, and a Judge ex officio of the Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador in order to avoid any appearance of preferential treatment or any opportunity to further the private interest of my friend.

- On January 31, 2023, I recused myself from discussions and decisions concerning the appointment of Mr. Dwight Ball to be director of the board of the Canada Development Investment Corporation in order to avoid any opportunity to further the private interest of my friend.
